6 December; DISCLOSURE TWO NEW PERSONAL SPONSORS

Today I can offcially announce that I will be personally supported next season by the two companies mentioned below. During my visit in Taiwan I layed some contacts and I have reached an agreement with the following companies, which will have no consequences for my current team PPL-BELISOL Cycling Team.

10 November; TOUR DE OKINAWA UCI 2.2

Last weekend I took part on the Japanese island Okinawa at the 2-day UCI 2.2 race, Tour de Okinawa. During the 1st stage it started to rain very hard and for that reason there were many crashes. Because of this we remained only with approximately 20 riders. During the last kilometres the Continental Teams Meintan-Hompo (Japan) and Drapac-Porsche (Australia) controlled our group and it was difficult to pass them. Finally I finished the 1st stage at a 7th place and my teammates of the T.C.F. Team, Chris Lintaman and Li-Yao Chiang, finished at a 42nd and 43rd place.

The 2nd stage was over a distance of 200 km on a course with several climbs. Unfortunally Chris couldn't start due a serious injury of his leg. From the start it was raining again and this time for the whole day. The first 140 km went without problems and in the first group only 50 riders were left. However on the next climb of 8 km, together with some other riders, under which Li-Yao, I got dropped out of the first group. Finally I finished this stage as 41st and Li-Yao as 42nd, in the General Classification I finished at a 32nd place. Winner of both stages as also the General Classification was the Japanese rider Yukiya Arashiro (Meitan-Hompo).

7 November; After we arrived in Okinawa (Japan) yesterday, we visit today with the National Team of Chinese Taipei and our team, T.C.F. Team (Taiwan Cycling Federation) a local elementary school. After a short introduction every class had to choose 3 riders for a lunch in their classroom. For me this was a great experience !

5 November; Last Saturday I participated at the Alishan Hill Climb Race in Taiwan, this race finished on the top of the mountain Alishan, which has a lenght of 56 km with an altitude of 2700 metres. The first half went fine, until a spoke of my backwheel broke. I had to return for 2 km to the feeding zone to change my wheel and when I also got a flat tire my race was over. After that, I started to catch up riders again but the last 15 km I collapsed totally and lost a lot of time. Finally I finished on a 19th place. Teammate Chris Lintaman (Team Fuji Taiwan) finished on a 3rd place.

24 Oktober; Next Thursday I will travel to Taiwan to visit my friend Chris Lintaman. Together with him I will participate at three races. The first race will take place in Taiwan and is the Alishan Hill Climb Race (Twn), a race of approximately 80 km with the finish at the top of a 50 km climb ! Later that week I will travel to Japan to take part at the Iheya Island Course (Jap) and Tour de Okinawa (Jap) UCI 1.2. 21 Oktober; Interview Landgraaf Koerier

20 Oktober; Yesterday we had our last race of the European season. Togeher with Sports Director Paul Lacroix and the riders Maikel Paas and Marc Habets we took part at the Criterium de Levallois in Paris (Fra). Already early in the race  there was a break away of 10 riders and I was in the chasing group. Unfortunally we couldn't close the gap with the leaders and I finished after 110 km at a 12th place, Marc finished 58th and Maikel 63rd. Winner was the Italian rider Fabio Fissore.

Also yesterday in Paris, I signed my contract for one more year with PPL-Belisol Cycling Team.

12 Oktober; 8th VICTORY OF SEASON ! Today I could gain a victory in Alken (Bel). During the final of this race I was in the break away with Michael Schweizer (Physiodom) and Kristof Goolaerts (NHT). With entering the last kilometre a big chasing group, including teammate Maikel Paas, caught us. At that moment I attacked and could ride solo to the victory. Maikel finished 38th. 4 Oktober; During the very hard race of today in Porcheresse (Bel) I finished at a 9th place.

3 Oktober; Today I participated together with Esther Crombag at the Dutch Championship Road Race for Tandems which was held in Landgraaf (Ned). Here we had to defend our title of last year. During the sprint for the victory Esther shot out  of her pedal and because of that our winning chances were gone immediately. Dissapointed we finished on a 3rd place. Newsreport L1 Teletext

28 September; 7th VICTORY OF SEASON ! Today I won the Grand Prix Cammaerts in Flawinne (Bel), this was a hard race with several climbs around Namur. Already early in the race I was in the break away of 17 riders and when we arrived the local laps our group had already a big gap at the bunch. With 15 km to go I could attack together with 3 other riders and until the finish we stayed together. In the sprint I was the fastest and gained a nice victory.

23 September; Yesterday I gained a 2nd place at the GP der Druivenfeesten in Hoeilaart (Bel). Winner was local rider Bart de Roeck who escaped during the last kilometres, behind the leader I could escape during the last kilometre at the 3 other chasers.

15 September; Last weekend the Final weekend of the Clubcompetition (Dutch Championship for clubteams) took place in Dalen (Ned). The schedule of Saturday was a prologue and a stage and the schedule of Sunday was a team time trail in the morning and another stage in the afternoon. In spite of a stomach- and intestines infection I participated this weekend, but during the races I had a lot of problems with my stomach and because of that a good result was not possible. In the prologue I finished on a disappointing 38th place and the 1st stage I finished 26th. In the team time trail we finished 11th with our team and during the 3rd stage I abandoned the race, after I was chasing the break away for 1 hour with only a gap of 10 sec. In the final classification of the Clubcompetition we finished with our team at a 10th place.

8 September; Today I had very bad legs during the Ronde van Born (Ned), nevertheless I finished at a 6th place. Winner of the race was Björn Hoeben (Van Hemert Groep).

7 September; Yesterday I participated at the Steinhager Profi-Rennen. This was a pro criterium on invitation in Steinhagen (Germany). In the criterium I finished 3rd behind the winner André Schulze of the Pro-Continental Team PSK Whirlpool-Author and Malte Urban (Team Focus-Alpecin). Afterwards there was a derny race of 39 km where I finished 10th. Winner of the derny race was Steffen Radochla of the Pro-Continental Team Elk Haus-Simplon.
 

1 September; Yesterday I took part at the UCI World Championship Road Race Masters (30-34 yrs.) in St.Johann (Austria). Already early in the race there was a break away of 7 riders, behind the leaders I was in the chasing group of also 7 riders. During the last 20 km we could catch 2 riders from the break away and 5 riders stayed in front. In the last kilometre I attacked in the chasing group and finished as 6th at 20 sec. of the leaders. Winner was the Italian, Michel Chocol.

25 August; Yesterday I took part at the Kernenomloop Echt-Susteren (Ned). This was a classic of 174 km. Winner of the race was my former teammate, Rik Kavsek (KrolStone Continental Team). I became 6th in the bunchsprint and finished on a 25th place.

18 August; After I abandoned yesterday's race Omloop van Simpelveld (Ned), I gained today a 2nd place in the Belgium race in Kotem. In a close sprint I was beaten by Jeffrey van Thielen (United CT).

10 August; Crash in Fyen Rundt (Den) UCI 1.2 costs me podium !

During the race Fyen Rundt / Albani Classic UCI 1.2 ,which took place in Odense (Den), I could have gained a very good result, however this was not granted me. After being in the break away of 33 riders, we were only left with 16 riders who could sprint for the victory at the end of the local laps. After 210 km I still had good legs and in the last corner at 300 metres of the finish I was in a perfect 2nd position. Unfortunally Martin Pedersen (Team GLS), who entered the corner first, slipped away and took me and six other riders along in his crash. Because my derailleur was broken, I finished the race on a disappointing 16th place on the bike of teammate, Thomas Rieff. The 'lucky' winner was Lars Ulrich Sörensen (Team Energy Fyn).

7 August; Yesterday I participated at the post-Tour criterium, the Ridderronde of Maastricht (Ned). After 90 km of racing Pieter Weening (Rabobank) won this pro-criterium, I finished the race as 22nd.

3 August; Today I gained a 2nd place in the German race, Wegberger Grenzlandrennen (Ger). Already early in the race we escaped with 4 riders, Michael Schweizer (Team Physiodom), René Schild (BSV Profil Hürtgenwald), Daniel Aigner (Keller Cycling Team) and I. In the sprint I became 2nd after my former teammate Michael Schweizer.

2 August; 6th VICTORY OF SEASON ! Tonight I gained my 6th victory of this season in my hometown, Landgraaf (Ned). After being a long time in the break away with teammate, Maikel Paas and Jan Winkelmolen only 12 riders came back. During the last 3 laps of the "Night of Waubach" I could ride solo to the victory.

28 July; Yesterday I finished 5th in the race in Dilsen-Stokkem (Bel).

27 July; Today I received an invitation to participate at the post-Tour criterium "Ridderronde of Maastricht" (Ned).

23 July; From Thursday until Monday we participated with PPL-Belisol at the Tour de Liège (Bel) UCI 2.12. This was a hard stagerace with a lot of climbs, like the Muur of Huy, Haute Levée and Muur of Theux. From the 192 starters only 68 riders finished this stagerace. The final winner became Jan Bakelants (Beveren 2000). In the General Classification I finished as 63rd and in the Sprintclassification I finished 2nd.

16 July; Last Sunday I took part at the race in Olen (Bel), in which I finished 27th.

6 July; For the first time since 19 years the Ronde van Wolder was kept again today. This was a very well organised race on a beautiful course. Already from the first lap I was in the break away and halfway the race I was certain of the KOM classification. 7 laps before the finish I left the 3 other leaders, Rob Ruijgh (Sparkasse), Remco Broers (Asito) and Jeroen Dohmen (United CT), and I went solo in search of the victory. However in the second last lap Jos van Emden (Rabobank) came back and attacked me on the climb where I had to let him go. Therefor I finished on a 2nd place and beside the KOM classification I also won the Leadersprice.

5 July; Yesterday I finished 4th in the race in Vianden (Lux). Winner of the race was Luxembourg rider Claude Degano.

30 June; Yesterday the Dutch Championship for Elite took place in Ootmarsum (Ned). Unfortunally I had bad legs, probably because I had to take antibiotics for an angina last week. After 135 km I abandonned the race, Lars Boom (Rabobank) became the new National Champion.

22 June; Today I participated at the race in Brunssum (Ned). This was a hilly course at the Bouwberg. After a hard race I finished on a 3rd place, with what I was satisfied. Winner after 120 km was my former teammate Stefan Cohnen (Team Sparkasse).

18 June; As preparation towards the Dutch Championships I had yesterday the race Romsée-Stavelot-Romsée (Bel) on my schedule. After 170 km I finished the race as 53rd of the 186 participants. Winner of the race was Maarten De Jonge (Beveren 2000).

16 June; Yesterday I participated at the GP Alex Hoffmann in Differdange (Lux). Together with teammate Raymond Werst I could escape out of the bunch during the last kilometres. Raymond finished 9th and I became 10th, winner of the race was my former teammate Håkan Nilsson (Differdange-Apiflo Vacances).

8 June; Yesterday we participated with PPL-Belisol Cycling Team at the Omloop van EPZ in Borssele (Ned), this was a classic of 173 km which counted for the Clubcompetition. With 20 km to go we escaped with 8 riders out of the bunch. In the last kilometre 2 riders could escape and I won the sprint for the 3th place. Winner was Johan Berk (Swabo). Afterwards teammate Maikel Paas and I had to leave immediately for another race, because in the evening we had to participate at the Derny criterium in Weert (Ned). Roy Curvers (Skil-Shimano) won the Derny criterium and together with my derny-rider Bruno Walraven I finished on a 2nd place.

1 June; This weekend we had two big races on our schedule, Saturday I participated at the Omloop Hoeksche Waard (Ned). After 168 km I was in the first group of 30 riders who were riding for the victory. In the sprint I finished on a 5th place, winner of the race was Job Vissers.

Sunday I participated at the Ronde van Limburg (Ned) and after 20 km I was in the break away of 7 riders. Because of a mistake of the jury, the break away were send into the wrong way and instead of being one minute in front we were one minute behind the bunch. After a long chase I came back in the first group of 60 riders, but by this effort I had lost many strenghts. These I had deficiency during the final and I finished on a 47th place on considerable delay of the winner Johnny Hoogerland (Van Vliet-EBH).

26 May; Last weekend I participated in two races in spite of being sick for two days. Saturday I finished as 4th in the criterium in Buchten (Ned). Sunday I abandoned the race GP Criquelion in Deux-Acren (Bel) after 135 km after I had done my work for the team.

18 May; 5th VICTORY OF SEASON ! This season is going super for me so far, because today I gained a new victory again. Because the U23-riders of our team took part at the 'Hel van Voerendaal', I decided to participate at the GP Henri Gilson in Schifflange (Lux). Already early in the race I was in a break away of 10 riders, of which we remained with 4 riders, Håkan Nilson (Differdange-Apiflo Vacances), Laurent Didier (Kuota-Senges), Stefan Parinussa (UC Dippach) and I. After several attacks I could escape 2 km before the finish from the other leaders and rode solo to the victory.

12 May; 4th VICTORY OF SEASON ! Today I became in Hoensbroek (Ned) for the fourth time in a row Champion of the District Limburg. After a long solo during this District Championship, my teammate Maikel Paas came with me. With the two of us we were riding to the finish, where I could pass the finishline first. 5 May; Last week we participated with PPL-Belisol Cycling Team at the Fleche du Sud UCI 2.2. This is a 5-day stagerace in Luxembourg. During the 1st stage I gained a 9th place and in the 3rd stage I just missed the podium and finished as 4th. The other stages I nearly always finished in the bunch. In the Final General Classification I finished as 48th at 0:03:32 from the winner Marcel Wyss (Atlas-Römer's) from Switzerland.

28 April; Yesterday I took part at the Wim Hendriks Trofee in Koewacht (Ned). After 15 km the bunch broke into pieces and after 25 km I was in the first group of 40 riders together with 3 teammates. At the cobblestones I always was in the front and because of that I could catch points for the Cobblestonesclassification. After 165 km I was in the break away of 7 riders who sprinted for the victory, in which I finished a bit dissapointing as 5th behind the winner Robin Chaigneau (Asito Cycling Team). However, I became winner of the Cobblestonesclassification.

23 April; Right at the end our team received an invitation for the Fleche du Sud (Lux) UCI 2.2. This is a 5-day stage race in Luxembourg, which will take place from 30 April until 4 May. The selected riders of PPL-Belisol are;  Junpei Murakami, Maikel Paas, Ward Schiffelers, Makoto Shimada, Raymond Werst, and I.

20 April; Today we participated with PPL-Belisol at the German Classic Rund um Düren (Ger) UCI 1.2. After a hard race with 7 climbs there was a break away of 4 riders on the local laps and I was riding in the bunch. I was 4th of the bunch so I finished on a nice 8th place and gained my first UCI-points of this season as also my qualification for the National Championship Elite Road Race.

DUTCH CHAMPION TIME TRAIL TANDEM MIX-TEAMS !

Yesterday I won together with Esther Crombag the Dutch Championship Time Trail for Tandem Mix-teams. After 23 km

we were 4 minutes ahead of the other competitors.

14 April; 3rd VICTORY OF SEASON ! Yesterday in the GP Marc Angel in Dommeldange (Lux) I have gained my 3rd victory of this season. Already at the beginning of the race I was in a break away of 8 riders. With 35 km to go I attacked on one of the climbs and the break away splitted and we were only left with 5 riders. During the last lap of totally 6, together with Laurent Didier (Kuota-Senges) I could escaped on the second last climb. After 140 km it became a sprint for the victory between the two of us, which I won rather easily. My teammate Maikel Paas became 6th and our two Japanese teammates, Makoto Shimada and Junpei Murakami, finished 12th and 16th.

6 April; Off-day in Omloop van de Braakman ! Yesterday I finished 22nd in the Omloop van de Braakman (Ned), this was the second race of the Clubcompetition. Unfortunally the final break away escaped at the moment I had a flat tire.

31 March; Last Sunday I started in the German Classic, Köln-Schuld-Frechen (Ger). Before the climbs started I could escape out of the bunch together with Jos Harms (Cyclingteam Piels). I passed the top of the first climb as first and just before the top of the second climb 8 riders came with me, under which all the favorite riders for the victory. Unfortunally a group of riders came back after the second climb and because of that 11 riders attacked on the third climb and stayed away. After 202 km I finished in the first peleton at a 33rd place. winner of the race was Björn Glasner (Team Kuota-Senges).

24 March; 2nd VICTORY OF SEASON ! Yesterday we participated with our team PPL-Belisol at the race in Erpe-Mere (Bel). After 2 laps I was together with my teammate Pascal Aandewiel in a big break away of 35 riders. During the last 2 laps the first group fell totally apart and I was in the break away of 5 riders. In the last 3 Km I could escape together with Belgium Champion, Tony Bracke (Yawadoo) and Simon Collard (Predictor-Lotto). During the sprint Bracke deviated extreem from his line at the point when I wanted to pass him and he was rightly put back to the 3rd place so that I was exclaimed as the winner.

Today I finished on a 6th place at the race in Retie (Bel). After 25 km of racing it started snowing very extreme and after 50 km the jury decided to shorten the race until  60 km. I was very happy with this decision because for many riders it was not possible to continue racing anymore. During the last 2 laps my teammate Wouter Kersjes could escape together with Tom Vermeiren out of the break away of 15 riders. Finally Wouter finished 2nd and I became 6th, Raymond Werst finished 20th.

16 March; 1st VICTORY OF SEASON ! Today I could gain my first victory of this season at the Clubchampionships of Limburg in Technoport Europe Beek (Ned). After 3 laps I could escape out of the bunch and after 30 km I lapped the complete bunch. This way I could control the race rather easily and win my first race of this season.

15 March; Yesterday was the teampresentation of PPL-Belisol Cycling Team in the Polfermolen in Valkenburg (Ned). In my opinion it was again a great succes! Newsreport Limburgs Dagblad

9 March; Saturday we participated with PPL-Belisol at the first race of the Clubcompetition, the Ronde van Zuid-Holland, also called the Witte Kruis Classic in Kijkduin (Ned). During the final of this Classic I was in a break away of 15 riders, but on the Maasdijk the group broke apart and in the front we were left with 8 riders, of which 5 riders of Van Hemert Groep, 2 riders of De Dommelstreek and I. For me it was a difficult situation, because the supremacy of 5 riders from the same team was too much. Finally I finished on the 4th place. Winner of the race was Sierk-Jan de Haan (Van Hemert Groep).

Today I participated at the last trainingrace in Beek (Ned). Already during the first lap I was in a break away of 15 riders and 45 km before the finish I could escape out of the break  away together with my former teammate Stefan Cohnen (Team Sparkasse). With the two of us the gap with the chasing group became bigger every lap and 3 laps before the finish I attacked and went solo to the victory.

3 March; Last weekend I participated at two races in Belgium. On Saturday in Saint-Séverin (Bel) I finished on a disappointed 27th place and on Sunday in Brustem-St.Truiden I finished on a 20th place.

25 February; TV-report of PPL-Belisol Cycling Team

24 February; The trainingrace in Beek (Ned) was today my first race for the PPL-Belisol Cycling Team. After 20 Km racing, I was in a break away of 8 riders together with teammate Bart Tijssen. Finally we were left with 4 riders who could race for the victory. During the last lap I attacked and went solo to the victory, teammate Bart Tijssen could gain the 2nd place before Dirk Finders and Michael Schweizer.

23 February; Today during a press conference in Valkenburg (Ned) it is confessed that I will join the new Dutch Elite team PPL-Belisol. With PPL-Belisol I will also participate in the Clubcompetition, which also will become one of my main goals this year. Next to that the team will participate in several (inter)national (stage)races. The team will have 12 riders.

20 February; Today I have decided definitively to leave my current team, the Continental Team Differdange-Apiflo Vacances. The reason for that is that I can not motivate myself anymore to race on the highest level between the professionals. Also during these races there is almost no honour for me to gain and most of the races I would finish in the bunch. Also because of my age of 31 years I have not the ambition for a pro-contract anymore. As from today I will prefer (inter)national classics and regional races with the Elite riders. One of my main goals of 2008 will be the National Championship with the Elite-Amateurs. For which team I'm going to race is still unclear at this moment.

17 February; Today I finished on a 3rd place again during the trainingrace in Veldhoven (Ned). Winner was Gijs Brouwer of Cyclingteam Piels.

10 February; Today and yesterday I participated at two trainingraces. Saturday in Landgraaf (Ned) I finished 5th and today in Veldhoven (Ned) I finished 3rd.

3 February; Today I participated at the trainingrace in Veldhoven (Ned). After three quarters of the race I could escape together with Bram Schmitz (Van Vliet-EBH) and Marco Brus (Piels), but 3 laps before the finish the bunch caught us again. However during the last two laps we escaped again with 4 riders, under which again Schmitz, Brus and I. Unfortunally during the sprint I came out of my pedal and became 4th. Winner was Marco Brus (Cyclingteam Piels).

18 January; JELAJAH MALAYSIA UCI 2.2

Since Wednesday I am back again from Malaysia, where I participated at the 7-day stagerace Jelajah Malaysia. With temperatures around 38°C it was very hot! This race was rather succesful for our team, Fredrik Johansson won the 4th stage and finished on a 3rd place in the General Classification. Also Cyrille Heymans gained a 3rd place during the 5th stage. I myself gained two times a top-ten result, during the 3rd stage I finished on a 8th place and during the 5th stage I finished as 5th. In the General Classification I finished on a 71st place.

3 January; Tomorrow we will leave with our team, Differdange-Apiflo Vacances, to Malaysia to take part at the 7-day stagerace Jelajah Malaysia (Asia Tour UCI 2.2), which takes place from 7 until 13 January.
