Top German professional cycle racing team, ComNet Senges, will be in the line-up when the FBD MILK RAS 8 Day International cycle race gets underway from the GPO on Sunday 23rd May. The team’s Directeur Sportif, Markus Ganser, confirming the team’s first ever appearance in the big Irish event, has selected a powerful blend of young and experienced riders. Three of the riders, Michael Scweizer, Markus Eichler and Rene Schild are part of the team’s under 23 squad, while 27 year olds, Tjarco Cuppens and Frank Dressler, provide the experience.
Cuppens rode in the 2000 FBD MILK RAS winning the first stage into Longford and his experience of the very competitive nature of the FBD MILK RAS will certainly benefit the team and make him a possible overall winner.
Germany will also be represented by Team Stevens Von Hacht from Hamburg.
Over 140 riders from at least ten countries are expected to face the starter
for the gruelling 8 days racing with exciting stage finishes in Trim, Oranmore,
Charleville, Cahirciveen, Millstreet, Carrick-on-Suir, Tullow and the final
finish in the Phoenix Park on Sunday 30th May.
